What is the BMI chart?

The World Health Organization chart for adults
  1. Under 18.5Underweight
  2. 18.5 to 24.9Healthy weight range
  3. 25 to 29.9Overweight
  4. 30 and overObesity

BMI, or body mass index, is your weight in kilograms divided by the square of your height in metres.

Example. For a height of 1.65 m and a weight of 72, BMI is 72 divided by 1.65 squared, which gives 26.4.

Its limits. BMI does not tell fat from muscle. It misleads for athletes, after 65 and during pregnancy.
